About

TV1 history, coverage, features

TV1 is a Malaysian television channel owned and operated by Radio Television Malaysia. This channel was launched on December 31, 1963 under the name TV Malaysia, but that name would change In 1969, when it became known as Rangkaian Pertama. Years later, the channel went through one more rebranding and was known as RTM 1, a name that would last until 2009, when the channel was branded as TV1.

Over the years, TV1 has been known for airing content related to topics such as news, business, sports, religion, movies, sports, documentaries, contest shows, and more. Most of the content included in TV1’s grid has been aired in Malay, although there have been some shows and events being broadcast in English language.

When it comes to sports, TV1 has focused on airing content related to popular disciplines in the country, although its coverage has been limited to broadcasting highlights on a sports news show.

TV1 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, although a High-Definition feed saw the light on April 1, 2019, which marked its parent company’s 73rd anniversary. Both feeds might still be available to watch via different pay-tv carriers across the country and via the Malaysian terrestrial television grid.
