About etv
e.tv is a privately owned free-to-air channel in South Africa. It was the fifth terrestrial channel launched in that country after its launch on October 1, 1998. It is owned and operated by eMedia Investments and Remgro. The channel is considered by most as the fiercest competitor for the channels operated by the SABC.
Over the years, e.tv has aired some of the most watched shows in the country as part of their generalist programming. News, sports, children’s programming, movies, international programs, and domestic content have been some of the topics of the shows aired by this network.
Speaking about sports, e.tv has aired disciplines such as football, American wrestling, and basketball. Major sports events related to these sports have been frequently aired by this channel over time.
When it comes to football, e.tv has aired some of the top club competitions in Europe, such as the English Premier League and the German Bundesliga. Moreover, the channel has also included UEFA Champions League games in their programming to boost their sports content over the years.
e.tv started broadcasting its content in Standard Definition, but a High Definition feed was launched in the early 2010s. A downscaled version of the HD feed is available for those users who have not switched to HD devices.
