About
Duna World history, coverage, features
Duna World is a Hungarian television channel owned and operated by the Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund, a branch of the Hungarian government. The channel was launched on April 16, 2006 portraying a mix of shows produced by the channels operated by the Media Service.
Over the years, Duna World’s main goal has been to reach out to Hungarian people living abroad, especially those living in the United States, Canada, Australia, Russia, and the Asia Pacific region. The main goal is to bring Hungarians closer to what is happening in their country even if they have not lived there for a while. Cultural shows, sports, entertainment shows, and minority magazines have all been part of Duna World’s programming as time has gone by.
Speaking of sports, Duna World has included some of the content that has been aired by sister network M4 Sport, which may include games for the two top categories in Hungarian football, games for the Hungarian national team, FIFA World Cup games, UEFA Euro matches and UEFA Nations League clashes that have been available on this channel both in Hungary and abroad.
Duna World was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was developed to see the light in 2011. The HD option has been available in Hungary and most European countries where the channel can be watched, while users in America or other countries may only be capable of watching the SD feed.
