The Scottish Junior Cup is an annual knockout football competition run by the Scottish Junior Football Association (SJFA). Founded in 1886, it is not a youth tournament despite the term “youth” in both the competition’s and organizer’s names, as it instead pertains to non-league football.

The Scottish Junior Cup commonly begins in August or September and concludes in June, featuring over 100 teams from all SJFA member clubs and those in tier six and below of the Scottish football pyramid.

The tournament follows a single-elimination format, with match-ups determined by a draw. In the event of a draw, the match goes directly to a penalty shootout. All fixtures are played as single-leg matches, except for the semifinals, which are contested over two legs.

The final is held at a neutral venue, with the champions earning qualification for the following season's Scottish Cup.

Fairfield Govan, a now-defunct club, won the inaugural Scottish Junior Cup, defeating Edinburgh Woodburn 3-1 in a replay to claim the 1886-87 title after the initial match result was protested. Burnbank Swift, another defunct team, was the first to win the competition more than once, securing back-to-back titles in 1888-89 and 1889-90.

Auchinleck Talbot has also seen significant success, winning the cup three times in a row from 1985 to 1988 and securing a total of eight trophies between 2005 and 2022.
