Facebook Live is a live streaming service owned and operated by Meta Platforms. The service was first launched in August 2015, limiting its availability to public verified personalities. Eventually, the service would become available to all users in January 2016.
Over the years, Facebook offered personalities and publishers incentives to use the platform, which included payments. Live videos streamed on this platform varied from impromptu appearances by creators to live news and general entertainment. Unfortunately, some users started streaming content subject to copyright laws, which resulted in several live feeds being terminated.
Facebook Live has not included live authorized content on its platform, leaving live streaming duties to a sister service named Facebook Watch. Either way, Facebook users who want to watch Facebook Live content may do so by logging in to their account and waiting for a live feed of their interest to pop up. A fast internet connection is suggested for a more stable experience.
