About Canal 9 Denmark

Canal 9 is a Danish television channel owned and operated by Discovery Networks Northern Europe. It was launched on July 17, 2009 by C More Entertainment, the company that owned the channel from 2009 to 2015, when they decided to sell it to Discovery Networks.

Since the channel’s initial launch, Canal 9 has focused on airing retro shows, including TV series, movies, and documentaries previously aired by the Discovery Channel. Added to that, the channel has aired live sports events, which have been shared with its two sister channels: Eurosport and 6’eren. Some of the disciplines covered by the channel over the years have included football, handball, tennis, American football, athletics, beach volleyball, Winter Olympics, and more.

When it comes to football, Canal 9 has aired content related to leagues such as the Danish Superliga, the English Premier League, the EFL Championship, the Dutch Eredivisie, the Spanish Primera División, and the Italian Serie A. Other tournaments aired by this channel have included the Copa del Rey, the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the UEFA Europa League. National team football has also been covered by this channel, including tournaments such as the UEFA Nations League, the Copa América, the FIFA World Cup, and qualifying games for the UEFA Euro and the FIFA World Cup.

Canal 9 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was launched on August 15, 2012. Both feeds may still be available in certain regions of the country and in some pay-tv carriers.
