About BT Sport Ultimate
BT Sport Ultimate is a sports TV channel available in the UK. It is owned by BT Group plc, a London-based multinational telecoms company. Formerly known as BT Sport 4K UHD until August 2019, BT Sport Ultimate broadcasts live football matches in Ultra HD and high dynamic range (HDR). This enables viewers to enjoy high quality images at 50 frames per second, while also taking advantage of the channel’s support for the Dolby Atmos audio format.
BT Sport Ultimate made its start on BT’s Max 4K TV package, with its content available both on television and mobile devices. Users who sign up for the channel as premium subscribers are required to have a 4K TV set, as well as a 4K set-top box, which BT offers as part of their Max 4K package.
For the highest possible picture quality, viewers are advised to have TV sets with a picture resolution of 2160p50, HDMI 2.0 and HDCP2.2 content protection. Users who are subscribed to EE 5G, UK’s first 5G network operated by EE—a division of BT Group—can however get free access to BT Sport Ultimate.
The first football game that aired live on the channel after it got rebranded was the 2019 FA Community Shield match between Liverpool and Manchester City. At the time it was revamped, BT Sport Ultimate’s main goal was to provide viewers UHD coverage of the English Premier League, in addition to live telecasts from the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, particularly for fixtures involving English clubs.
BT Sport Ultimate is available on BT TV on Channel 433 and on Virgin Media on Channel 531 in the UK.
