England Euro 2012 Profile: Review of England's team, coach and more

Whether they play good or bad, England are sure to attract the media’s attention at the 2012 European Championship hosted by Poland and Ukraine.

The pressure is firmly on England ahead of Euro 2012.How England qualified for Euro 2012

The Three Lions went through the Euro Cup qualifiers unbeaten under the guidance of Fabio Capello. They netted 17 goals and conceded just 5 in their 8 matches. Montenegro and Switzerland gave them the biggest scare. The former stole 4 points away from England through a goalless encounter at Wembley and a 2-2 draw in Podgorica.

That game in Montenegro saw Wayne Rooney get in serious trouble. The Manchester United striker lost his mind and got sent off with a rash retaliation on a Montengran opponent. His direct red card offense means that England will have to do without his services on the first 2 Matchdays of the competition.

The Manchester United midfielder made it public that he would not accept being used as a substitute for England. Roy Hodgson made not of that and did not include Carrick in his Euro 2012 squad.
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick decided that he did not want to travel to Euro 2012 if he was going to have to watch from the sidelines. The English Football Association announced that Carrick had notified them a few months back about not wanting to be a squad player.

The English midfielder felt that at this point in his career he did not want to be used as an option off the bench. When new England boss Roy Hodgson announced his Euro 2012 squad, many were left surprised that Carrick was not on the list, but Jordan Henderson made the cut for the stand-by list.

Although Carrick has not officially retired from the English squad, he may well have 'burnt' his bridges with these comments.

Is Roy Hodgson the right man to turn things around for England?

While many expected Redknapp as the new England manager, Hodgson was officially announced today. Will the current West Brom manager lead England to glory?

Roy Hodgson has become England's new manager. The English FA officially announced the signing of Roy Hodgson as the new head coach of the England team. While their are many mixed emotions in regards to this decision, what has led the FA to go with Hodgson over some of the other choices they may have had?

To be honest, I think the only beneficial thing that comes out of this for the English FA is the fact that Hodgson is English. I have never been a fan of an International team coach not being from that same country. An interesting fact that not many people may know is that if we go all the way back to 1970, no team has won an international competition without a coach from that country.

Liverpool Manager Kenny Dalglish to go Head to Head with the Man he Replaced This Weekend

Thursday October 27 2011,
Tags: Liverpool, Kenny Dalglish, Roy Hodgson
Liverpool advanced to the Carling Cup quarter-finals in midweek with a 2-1 victory at Stoke City. Luis Suarez scored twice and managed to take some focus away from his racism row with Patrice Evra last week.
The Reds will return to Premier League action this weekend, and Kenny Dalglish will face off against West Bromwich Albion manager Roy Hodgson, the man he replaced in the Anfield hot seat.

Hodgson was handed the Liverpool managerial job in the summer of 2010, after guiding Fulham to the UEFA Europa League Final and a 12th place finish in the Premier League.

Hodgson struggled at Anfield, and his reign came to an inglorious end in early 2011. Hodgson was forced out after 31 games in charge, giving him the dubious recognition of having had the shortest managerial reign in the club’s history.

Anfield legend Dalglish stepped into the managerial role after Hodgson’s departure, and led the club to improved results on the field.

Tags: Roy Hodgson, Liverpool, Manchester United, FA Cup
“Roy Hodgson Sacked” or “Roy Hodgson Leaves”… This is was the kind of news headline that most Liverpool fans wanted to see before the Manchester United vs Liverpool match in the FA Cup.
Earlier on, there were heavy speculations over Hodgson’s future at the Liverpool club, following the manager’s incapability to give the Reds satisfying results this season. Roy refused to give details over his destiny at Anfield during a press conference after Liverpool’s loss to Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League; however, fervent supporters of the team were hoping to see him out before their tough challenge in the FA Cup at Old Trafford against Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United.

"Nobody believes he has a future here anymore,” said an insider speaking to The Sun about Roy Hodgson’s situation.

“In fact, making him lead the team (Liverpool) out at Old Trafford of all places would just be humiliating. Everyone thinks Roy spent yesterday (Friday) negotiating his pay-off terms.”

Finally, the club’s leaders have made their final decision on the issue to save the Reds from further destruction, and apparently, the only way in which they could improve current circumstances was through sacking him. Roy Hodgson had the option to resign from his position at Liverpool, but it was reported that he was asked to leave the club.

Liverpool’s Roy Hodgson: I’m Too Dejected, Don’t Ask Me About My Future

Thursday January 6 2011,
Tags: Roy Hodgson, Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers, Premier League
A miserable 3-1 defeat away to Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League left the Liverpool family in absolute disappointment. However, Roy Hodgson refuses to talk about his future at the club.
At a press conference “which lasted barely 2 minutes”, according to the Telegraph, Roy Hodgson made himself clear over the fact that he did not want to answer any question regarding his future with Liverpool. “I am not prepared to talk about my future,” he confirmed.
“At this moment, I am depressed enough with the performance (of Liverpool) and the result (against Blackburn).

“I’m not here to talk about that future. I have no comments to make (on the concerned issue), and I don’t intend to answer any questions on the subject.”

A late penalty miss from Steven Gerrard prevented the midfielder from getting a double which could have pushed the Reds closer to a comeback, after Martin Olsson and Benjamin Mwaruwari had given Blackburn a 3-0 lead at the Ewood Park. A stressful second half also triggered hostile chants from Liverpool fans in the stadium against Roy Hodgson: “You’re getting sacked in the morning!”

Liverpool need to buy new players during the January transfer window – not to compete against their rivals’ exposure in top transfer news headlines, but to create a competitive team as Roy Hodgson believes.
The Liverpool manager has seen the Merseyside Reds’ squad reshuffle following the departure of Rafael Benitez. Paul Konchesky, Poulsen and Raul Meireles are three players whom Roy Hodgson was “happy to bring to the club”. But the feeling is perhaps not the same for Joe Cole and Milan Jovanovic who also landed at Anfield during last summer’s transfer window.

Liverpool’s Hodgson has lamented his lack of control over transfers at the club and he has eventually revealed his concern to ESPN Soccernet in an interview this week. The manager is under fire as Liverpool’s condition hasn’t really improved since he was given the reins to manage the team at the beginning of the season.
