Here is our pre-match preview of the England vs Iceland Euro 2016 last 16 match, and all the broadcast options for different countries worldwide.

England finished second in Group B with five points, one behind group leaders Wales. In their group stage campaign, the Three Lions drew with Russia 1-1 in their opening match of the tournament, beat group leaders Wales 2-1 then secured a goalless draw with Slovakia.

Iceland on the other hand, finished second in Group F with five points same as group leaders Hungary but with an inferior goal difference. On their way to qualification for the last 16, they drew with Portugal in their opening match on June 14, then drew with Hungary four days later before securing a shocking but thrilling 2-1 win over Austria in their last game.

Iceland are making their first ever appearance at the European Championship, and they will be glad to have made it to the last 16 in a group that consisted of the likes of Portugal, Austria and Hungary. Roy Hodgson’s men are making their ninth appearance this competition since 1968.

They finished third in 1968 and reached the semi-finals in 1996 when they lost to Germany on post-match penalties at the Wembley Stadium in London in front of 75,862 fans. The Englishmen will be hoping to move a step further in this year’s tournament by overcoming the disappointment they endured under Die Mannschaft two decades ago to at least reach the finals of this year’s tournament.

England and Iceland faced each other in 2004 in an international friendly when the former won 6-1 thanks to goals from Frank Lampard, Wayne Bridge and a brace from Wayne Rooney and Darius Vassell.

The Englishmen are expected to cruise to an easy win here despite failing to impress at the group stage of the tournament. Coach Hodgson seemed to be gambling with the team’s selection at the group stage and many fans would assume that he has already found the perfect formula to succeed in this tournament after three games. Raheem Sterling is expected to be benched for this match following the intense criticism from fans, but Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge could start up front thanks to their brilliant performance against Wales on June 16.
