About UEFA Europa League

The UEFA Europa League – previously called the UEFA Cup and founded in 1971 – is Europe's second-tier club competition.

No team has won more UEFA Europa League titles than Sevilla (4). Remarkably, the Andalusia-based club scooped their four trophies in the last 10 years, winning it back-to-back twice: in 2006 and 2007, and in 2014 and 2015 at the expense of Middlesbrough, Espanyol, Benfica and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk respectively.

After being hosted at the Amsterdam Arena in the Netherlands, the Juventus Stadium in Italy and the Stadion Narodowy in Poland more recently, the 2015-16 UEFA Europa League final is set to take place at the St. Jakob-Park in Switzerland. The dates of the competition this season are as follows:

  • September 17, 2015 – December 10, 2015: Group stages
  • February 18, 2016 – February 25, 2016: Round of 32
  • March 10, 2016 – March 17, 2016: Round of 16
  • April 7, 2016 – April 14, 2016: Quarter-finals
  • April 28, 2016 – May 5, 2016: Semi-finals
  • May 18, 2016: Final
