ANT1 history, coverage, features
Antenna, also known as Ant1, is a television channel from Greece, which is owned and operated by the Antenna Group. The channel was launched on December 31, 1989 as a general information channel, adding entertainment programs to its grid. The channel has frequently been referred to as one of the most popular in the country.
Over the years, ANT1 has focused on entertainment programs such as morning magazine shows, talent shows, video game programs, TV series, sports, and news broadcasts. While most of the content on this channel has been aired in Greek language, some of the content broadcast on the channel has also been aired in English.
Speaking about sports, ANT1 has focused its coverage on football. Recently, the channel aired live content and highlights for the UEFA Euro. Other disciplines have also been covered by the channel via its various news broadcasts via highlights.
ANT1 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but tests to launch a High-Definition feed began in 2016 and officially launched on January 26, 2018, making it the primary feed for all fans to watch. Both feeds and even a downscaled version of the HD feed may be available for users to watch in Greece and in other countries such as Cyprus, where content of ANT1 has also been available over the years.
