About Nitro

Nitro is a free-to-air channel from Germany that was launched on April 1, 2012. It is owned by the RTL Group, a company that owns and operates several German channels. It was formerly known as RTL Nitro from 2012 to 2017.

The channel targets a widespread audience, especially men from 20 to 59 years of age. Most of the shows aired on this channel are old American and German TV series, but newer shows have been added after a few years. The channel also broadcasts local and foreign entertainment shows and magazine programs to broaden its reach among their users.

Although the channel is available on Germany’s terrestrial feed, several pay-tv carriers in the country have added it to their grid. Nitro is mostly available in HD, but a Standard Definition feed is also available for users that require the use of that technology. Curiously, the HD feed for this channel was launched just five months later after the channel’s initial broadcast (September 1, 2012).

Nitro is a sister channel to RTL, RTL Zwei, RTL Crime, RTL Living, RTL Passion, RTLplus, and Super RTL.
