Pro TV is a Romanian free-to-air television channel owned and operated by Pro TV SRL. This channel was launched on December 1, 1995, becoming the third private television channel in the country. Its main target audience are adults between 30 and 50 years of age, according to a description issued by its parent company.
Over the years, Pro TV has been known as a general entertainment channel, with movies, TV series, news, animated series, and other types of shows to satisfy its audience, one of the largest in the country according to yearly rating reports. Most of the content aired on this channel has been produced within the country’s borders, especially its tv series offer, but there have also been some movies and shows that have been produced in other countries. One of the most popular television shows aired by this channel is its news broadcast, Pro TV New, which has even won international awards.
Speaking about sports, Pro TV might offer sports coverage via highlights in its news broadcasts, mainly because the network has not made a profit out of airing any sports events.
Pro TV was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was launched on December 1, 2006. The HD feed has become the primary broadcast option for the channel, although a downscaled version of it may be found in certain regions and via some pay-tv carriers across the country.
