Manchester United gradually occupying Barcelona’s extra-terrestrial planet

It looks like extra-terrestrial Barcelona are no more alone on their out-of-this-world planet. The new generation of Alex Ferguson’s Red Devils seems to have joined the Catalans up there.

Wayne Rooney is at the centre of a very bright future for Manchester United's new generationA Barcelona-Manchester United matchup in the UEFA Champions League final this season will arguably confirm this opinion. The two powerhouses have met twice in only 3 European finals since 2009 with results explaining that Barcelona remain a mile ahead of Manchester United.

Bitter memories… the two games that pushed Man United to become a better team

What Red Devils supporters witnessed at the Stadio Olimpico in 2009 was rather humiliating. How did the good old Fergie seem so lost in tactics against a manager as inexperienced—yet cunning—as Pep Guardiola?

Ryan Giggs Continues on the Path to Becoming the Greatest Manchester United Player Ever

Tags: Ryan Giggs, Manchester United, UEFA Champions League
Manchester United began their UEFA Champions League campaign with a 1-1 draw at Benfica, and it was a very familiar name on the score sheet.
Benfica took the lead through Paraguay international striker Oscar Cardozo, but the legendary Ryan Giggs struck just before half-time to earn a point for the Red Devil’s.

Much of the attention on United’s awesome start to the season has been focused on the ‘new breed’ at Old Trafford that is rife with young and exciting talent.

Young defenders Phil Jones and Jonny Evans have played well in front of 20 year-old goalkeeper David De Gea. In midfield Ashley Young and Tom Cleverley have produced a vibrant and attacking brand of football that is complimenting a lethal attack.

At the spearhead of United’s lineup, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez are firing in the goals, with Rooney a relative greybeard at the age of 25.

Tags: Ryan Giggs, Imogen Thomas, Sir Alex Ferguson
Ryan Giggs of Manchester United has now become a hot topic of discussion subsequent to his affair scandal with star Imogen Thomas, but where is the Champions League final in all this?
For several years now, Giggs has been portrayed as an exemplary player; decent and accurate on the pitch, as well as self-controlled and respectful off the pitch. Although his loyalty has been repeatedly proven in his career via his truthful pledges upon his future at the Manchester United football club, his loyalty as a husband and a father is now greatly questioned.

A recent report linking him to female celebrity Imogen Thomas has rudely broken out, leaving the majority of his British followers stunned and disgusted. Obviously, similar scandals could easily be associated those labelled as “playboys” in the industry, but for the veteran master Ryan Giggs, the situation is just too different and peculiar.

Barca-United Final: Predicting The Line-Up Of Sir Alex's Men

Predicting a team's line-up may be easy at times but when they go against Barcelona, the whole mentality of team selection is brought to a new dimension. Live Soccer TV previews.

Cristiano Ronaldo was always regarded as a winger during his time at Old Trafford. Not to say that he can't fit into the centre forward position but his best years at United saw him freely roaming and switching flanks as a genuine out and out winger. But it was that semi final triumph against Arsenal that persuaded Sir Alex after all. Ronaldo was employed in the wings and it weaved magic as United swept off the Gunners to march into the final at Rome. But boy did all go wrong at the Stadio Olimpico.

Basically, teams have always altered their formation while going against the mighty Catalans. 'Defensive' or maybe 'Negative Tactics' were probably the cliche's during build up to a game against Barcelona.  Real Madrid certainly stopped the Catalans at the Mestalla not so long ago.  But considering what happened when they clashed at the Nou Camp- with the situation not allowing Jose Mourinho's men to set-up defensively is raising up doubts over whether a team should go defensive against Barcelona.

Schalke 04 vs Manchester United Report

Manchester United produced a convincing 2-0 win at Schalke 04 in the Champions League semi-final first leg.
United dominated for the vast majority of the match but were denied time and again by a magnificent performance from Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Ryan Giggs finally opened the scoring for United in the 67th minute, before Wayne Rooney put the seal on a convincing 2-0 win for the Red Devils.

Schalke came into this game on the back of a 7-3 aggregate win over defending Champions Inter Milan, and had the first shot on goal when Alexander Baumjohann had his effort saved by Edwin van der Sar. Rather than being a sign of things to come for Schalke, it signaled a period of long United dominance.

Neuer was forced to produce three good saves within the first 10 minutes as he saved a deflected Rooney effort, before saving smartly from Park Ji-Sung and Javier Hernandez.

Gareth Bale has been in sizzling form for Tottenham Hotspur this season with performances that have led to Fabio Capello hailing him as one of the best in the business. But the main question for now is: Should England fear Gareth Bale?

From the moment he scored that fantastic hat-rick at the San Siro last year, everybody knew Gareth Bale wasn't someone ordinary. He has the pace to beat defenders and that is the aspect that Glen Johnson should be worried about; considering how inconsistent he has been for club and country.
