Former Manchester United player Ryan Giggs has left Old Trafford after 29 years.

The BBC understands that Manchester United legendary player-cum-assistant manager Ryan Giggs has finally left the club after 29 years of service. The 42-year-old former Red Devils’ winger had to leave the Premier League giants following Jose Mourinho’s arrival at the club.

It is understood that Mourinho prefers working with his own coaching staff, therefore paving way for Rui Faria to take over as assistant manager. Giggs has been denied the Man Utd coaching job for the second time in a row. The UEFA Pro License holder first expressed his interest to manage the league giants after David Moyes’ sacking, but Louis Van Gaal was preferred for the top job with Giggs acting as his assistant. He then tried his luck when LVG was saccked but ex-Chelsea boss Mourinho was preferred.

It is likely that the Welshman could find a managerial role elsewhere, probably in the Championship or Premier League. He played his entire senior football career with Manchester United between 1990 and 2014, and he scored 114 goals in 672 appearances in the league. As a manager, he managed the Red Devils from April 2014 to May the same year and won two games, drew one and lost one out of four.
