The Welsh legend will follow Louis Van Gaal out the Old Trafford door.

Although fans have long been calling for Manchester United to sack Louis Van Gaal in favor of Jose Mourinho, the departure of the Dutch tactician appears to have caused a rippling effect which may also see the 64-year-old’s coaching staff and Ryan Giggs walk out the door.

Reports on Monday morning, as per The Mirror, claim that the Red Devils executive vice chairman Ed Woodward met with the former Netherlands boss to inform him that his services are no longer required, with Van Gaal’s backroom staff also given the boot.

The British news outlet also claim that with the Special One expected to replace Van Gaal at the helm of Old Trafford, the club’s Welsh legend will leave the 20-time English Premier League champions, with confirmation expected to arrive soon.

Giggs, having spent 29 years with Manchester United as player, assistant manager, and a short interim-manager role, the 42-year-old is reportedly not keen on playing a supporting role to the incoming Mourinho. The 13-time Premier League winner was initially being groomed to take over the reign at the Theatre of Dreams once Van Gaal’s three-year deal expired, but that plan has been scrapped alongside the Dutchman’s contract.

ESPN FC write that the English giants will offer Giggs a coaching role and possibly strip him of his title as assistant manager, though their source claim that the Welshman will likely leave to pursue a career as a first-team manager.

However, the Mirror claim that this is not goodbye, rather see you soon, as Giggs’ desire to leave is to gain experience in order to one day become manager at Manchester United.
