Another injury will make things even more complicated for Argentina, as Carlos Tévez will not be able to perform with La Albiceleste against A Canarinha and Colombia. The former Juventus player, currently with Boca Juniors, came down with a knee injury last week, and even though the doctors feel his injury is not that serious, the physicians decided to leave him out of the squad that will host Brazil and will travel to Colombia this weekend.
"The striker arrived to the team's training facility with a muscular problem and with a sprain to his left knee. Therefore, he will not be available to perform against Brazil or Colombia," the Argentine Football Association revealed via its website.
The medical report went even further, revealing Tevez made himself available to play, but coach Gerardo Martino chose to leave him on the sidelines as a precaution. The player will continue his recovery process with Boca Juniors, according to AFA's report.
Tevez's injury will deplete Argentina's striking force once more, after Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero were left out of the team facing Neymar's side and James Rodriguez's team. Furthermore, defenders Ezequiel Garay and Pablo Zabaleta won't be available as well, leaving La Albiceleste with a shortage of players. The team's coach is yet to decide if he will call someone else up to take Tevez's place, with local players like Marco Ruben and "El Apache's" team-mate Jonathan Calleri as options.
