USL PRO

The United Soccer League First Division, also known as the USL or USL-1, is the 2nd tier North American soccer competition comprised of US and Canadian soccer clubs. There is no relationship between the USL-1 and the MLS. There is no promotion or demotion based on performance. There are currently only 11 teams playing in the USL-1 league. Some of these leagues are set to buy into the MLS franchise in the next few years, specifically the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Portland Timbers. The Seattle Sounders have made a successful move to the MLS for the 2009 Season; boasting one of the classiest football stadiums in North America.
