Don’t expect many changes in the USA’s lineup and tactics from their last match against France…
Pia Sundhage may maintain the likes of Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe out of USA’s starting XI. The two players were used substitutes in the Americans’ previous 2 knock-out matches at the 2011 Women’s World Cup. Their effect from the bench has been important at the detriment of oppositions.

Remember Alex Morgan got her name on the scoring sheet as a 56th minute substitute against France and that her goal was set up by fellow-sub Rapinoe. Meanwhile, Lauren Cheney and Abby Wambach are expected to pair upfront in the USA’s starting XI. Heather O’Reilly might also keep her place as a starter after playing 87 minutes against the French.

France vs USA Report

USA have reached, in great style and at the public's expectations, the final of the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup!
An early goal from Cheney gave the Americans some much needed confidence which seemed to transform into complacency at some point. In reply to the United States’ 1-0 lead, the brave French women refused to give up and dominated the USA for the most part of the first period.

Necib’s energy down the left wing gave a lot of problems to the Americans’ defense as Wambach seemed to have disappeared for a while. Not that surprising since Georges was instrumental for France at right-back. But the United States will need to thank Hope Solo for her tremendous performance in post. France's shots were so powerful that the rest of the story could have been miserable for the Americans.

France vs USA is the match of the day! The United States are aiming to win the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup, but will the French destroy the Americans’ dream?
It’s huge. It’s captivating. It’s going to be a 90 or 120 minutes battle full of thrills and skills. And the events of this match will create a final picture—with the players of one team all smiles in ecstasy and the players of the other team completely confused in disgust and anguish.

USA are relishing the fact of being tagged as hot favorites. They indeed are, and deservedly so. Don’t mess up with Abby Wambach, Rapinoe, Hope Solo or any of the United States’ women’s football team.

Brazil’s number 1 goalkeeper Andreia could tell you best how it feels to be stunned by a last-second header from Wambach in a knock-out stage match. Team mate and defender Daiane could explain better what it means to score an own goal and have a penalty kick saved by Hope Solo under the influence of stress.

Is there a better moment than the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup for USA’s Hope Solo and co to rule the planet? Brazil have been ousted. France, here come the Americans!
The United States actually did the impossible against Brazil, which explains why hero Wambach still cannot believe how they managed to book a semi-final meeting against France. Her injury-time equalizer in extra-time turned things around in perhaps the most fashionable manner one could have ever imagined.

“I literally can't believe what happened. It's probably the most emotional moment of my life,” said an ecstatic Wambach to FIFA.com. At any other random moment, Rapinoe might have never been able to bend in such a wonderful cross from inside the midfield area and Wambach might have never been able to make a perfect jump and a perfect header to send the ball home.

Brazil vs USA Preview

The 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup’s USA vs Brazil fixture has robbed the headlines for all it is worth, and more so because it is not a final, but a quarter-final match only!
The history between both sides is extremely interesting and USA definitely have the upper hand in terms of head-to-head. This fact also brings us to ask ourselves a big question: Can Brazil’s best generation of female stars defeat USA en Route to glory?

Well, beating the United States is something that the Canarinhas have already done in the past. They actually did it pretty well. But winning gold on the international stage is something they haven’t been able to do at the relief of the Americans.

Three years ago, USA and Brazil met in the final of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the Samba Queens got painfully paid back for defeating the United States 4-0 in the semi-finals of the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup in China.
