The rumor mill rolls on as Cesc Fabregas is linked with Manchester United amongst the latest dramas.
Arsenal fans have seen too many of their heroes depart in recent years. Robin Van Persie famously switched from the Red of London to the Red of Manchester. The switch caused uproar amongst Arsenal fans of course. However, the Arsenal fans moved on as they have after losing their big players to teams with bigger ambitions.

They saw Samir Nasri, Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor depart for the Blue side of Manchester. The Arsenal fans felt outraged by each of these transfers. However, one major transfer they were saddened by but not angered by was that of Francesc Fabregas. The Spaniard after all left his club of eight years for his boyhood club. As expected, to a certain extent, Fabregas could not hold down a first team berth in Barcelona. Manchester United, having lost out Thiago Alcantara to FC Bayern München, has now set their sights on this star.

Fabregas is a player with many talents. One of them is breaking down opposition midfields with brilliant passes. Manchester United could definitely add a player with such vision to their squad. Fabregas would obviously be a regular starter at the club. He would be returning to a country in which he previously dwelled for almost a decade. The transfer would suit both the club and the Spaniard.

However, it would not suit Arsenal. Arsenal fans would have the right to be unhappy. A majority of them predicted that Fabregas would not be able to hold down a starting place at Barca. They wanted him to continue to lead their club. His stylish, almost lavish, ways on the field are missed. He was never one to catch attention by making rough tackles or by winning physical battles. His passes and his goals made him special.

Fabregas would not be betraying Arsenal if he did join United as he would be joining from Barca. However, Arsenal fans might not feel that way. They will clearly be hurt by the fact that one of their own, who spent eight long years with them, would be featuring for one of their biggest rivals. Some fans will be more understanding because he is moving from Barcelona. Others will feel that he should have known better and he should have stayed at Arsenal. Arsenal is after all the club in which he spent his entire professional career prior to heading off to supposedly greener pastures.

Fabregas can expect to be booed in visits to the Emirates Stadium. He is still a much loved player amongst the Arsenal fans. He will lose all the admiration and respect he earned in his time at Arsenal amongst the Arsenal fans if he does transfer to United. When Fabregas transferred, the sorrow was clear in his eyes. They were tearful. Now, a move to United might portray to the Arsenal fans, that those tears were nothing more than crocodile tears, that he never had them in his heart to begin with.
