Landon Donovan has been accused of lacking commitment but the 30-year-old midfielder is not planning to retire yet. In fact, he is expected to return from his break and train with Los Angeles Galaxy somewhere around late March or early April. In the meantime, his club will commence its quest for success in MLS with a home match against Chicago Fire. This will be the first fixture of Sunday’s three-game line up. LA Galaxy vs Chicago Fire kicks off at 17:00 EST.

The home crowd at the Jeld-Wen Field will be hopeful of kicking off their MLS campaign with a positive result against New York Red Bulls. The hosts are certainly not favourites in this tie but facing Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is the sort of big thing that new Portland Timbers coach Caleb Porter may need to motivate his team. 

Portland Timbers v New York RB will precede the very last MLS match of the weekend, San Jose Earthquakes vs Real Salt Lake.
