Robin van Persie has officially completed his transfer from Arsenal to Manchester United. The Dutch striker follows Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri out of the Emirates in big-money moves.

Van Persie is hopeful of finally clinching titles at Manchester United.Van Persie had only one year left on his Arsenal contract and decided not to renew it. In a public statement on July 4 this year, the winger-turned-into-striker explained his decision by voicing out his discontent at Arsenal’s policy.

A line in Robin van Persie’s letter read: “It has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal FC should move forward.”

After defeating Manchester City in the transfer race, Manchester United announced Robin van Persie would become a Red Devil player this week. The announcement was made official on Friday. It is understood that Manchester United acquired the signature of RVP on a four-year deal for £24 million.

Speaking at a press conference, coach Sir Alex Ferguson declared:

“Robin is a world-class striker with a proven record in England and in European football. His talents need no introduction to our fans.

“He has scored a number of goals against us in some classic battles with his former club. His movement, finishing and all-round ability are outstanding.”

Robin van Persie is one of the Netherlands’ main weapons. Coach coach Louis van Gaal expressed his delight at Van Persie’s transfer as the Oranje aim to recover from their abysmal Euro 2012 campaign.

“Robin's transfer to Manchester United is fantastic not just for himself, but for Dutch football in general, too. Robin followed his heart in this matter,” Van Gaal told Algemeen Dagblad.

Despite receiving harsh abuse from angry Arsenal fans via Twitter, Robin van Persie reiterated his desire to finally clinch silverware.

“It’s an honour to sign for Manchester United,” said the new Manchester United player.

“I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of so many great strikers, bringing my experience and playing my part to help the team compete for the biggest trophies in the game.”

Robin van Persie is set to feature for the Red Devils in Monday’s English Premier League fixture against Everton. The 29-year-old striker who previously avowed his frustration over Arsenal’s title drought concluded:

“I can’t wait to get started.”

Meanwhile, Robin van Persie’s transfer gives Arsene Wenger the option to spend £24 million before the close of the 2012 summer transfer window. Arsenal already have Lucas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla on their team.
