It is going to be a strange season for Arsenal. How will transfer signings Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud and Lucas Podolski fill the void created by Robin van Persie?
Robin van Persie made over 275 appearances for Arsenal and surpassed the 130-goal mark. One too many times during his past seven seasons with the Gunners, he might have wondered what to do to get his hands on silverware.

Meanwhile, during these seven years, Manchester United overcame multiple lows with a host of glorious moments. Last season, Robin van Persie gave his best shot scoring 30 English Premier League goals as Arsenal clinched a Champions League spot in great fashion.

This incredible achievement got Gooners dreaming about more success through the leadership of the Dutch captain. However, the latter broke their hearts in a public letter which read:

“I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days.

“Out of my huge respect for Mr Wenger, the players and the fans I don't want to go into any details, but unfortunately in this meeting it has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal FC should move forward.”

Anticipating defeat in their fight to keep Van Persie, Arsenal purchased Montpellier key player Olivier Giroud. The latter will have to team up with German star Lucas Podolski upfront with Spanish international Santi Cazorla supporting in midfield.

“The new strikers are looking really good,” Oxlade-Chamberlain told reporters on Thursday. “I think Podolski has one of the best shots I've ever seen. Olivier's isn't too bad either; he's scoring a few in training!

“They all look like good signings. Santi [Cazorla] looks fantastic too, he is the typical Spaniard; fantastic technically and lively. He can score, he can dribble and he looks like a brilliant player.

“They are three players who I can say will add quality to the team. And their personalities too - they are really good lads. We've been speaking about positive energy in the camp and they bring it in abundance.”

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s statement may warm up the hearts of Gooners but why does it not parallel Arsene Wenger’s opinion? Still devasted by the departure of his captain, Wenger made the following comment:

“It’s a tough challenge for our new forwards to replace him [Robin van Persie]. The economic part of it [the transfer] is the only satisfaction. But money doesn’t go out on the field and play, players do.”

The pressure is on new transfer signings Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud and Lucas Podolski to lift Arsenal. Could Robin van Persie’s departure mean that the Gunners have absolutely no ammunition left to challenge as a big club?

In any case, Arsene Wenger now has some good money to spend within the last weeks of the 2012 summer transfer window. Will the Frenchman pull out a shocker?
