With 18 rounds of Premier League action still remaining, who will win the title is anyone’s guess. Chelsea top the table, but their lead was cut after a loss to Tottenham, giving hope to Spurs; Man City; Liverpool; and even Arsenal.
Nonetheless, the Blues are still favorites to win the title. This is according to super-computer SAM (Sports Analytics Machine), built by a professor of sports analytics at the University of Salford.
The machine attempted at predicting how the table would look like after the final round, 38, was played, tipping Antonio Conte’s boys as the ones to lift the Premier League. This isn’t surprising, as they recently went on a 13-game winning streak.
The prediction was bad news for Arsenal, currently fifth in the standing. SAM predicts that this will be the season that Tottenham finish ahead of the Gunners, tipping Pochettino’s boys to finish in second. This means the end of St Totteringham's Day.
But it doesn’t end there. The computer also predicts that this will be the season that Wenger’s side finish outside the top four – in fifth. This means it could be the first time since 1995-96 that Arsenal won’t qualify for the Champions League.
According to the computer, Liverpool will grab a third-placed finish, with Man City completing the top four.
