Preparations for the Euro 2016 as on top gear as England flex their muscles against Turkey in an international friendly to be played on Sunday.

As England face Turkey for an international friendly ahead of the UEFA Euro 2016, Roy Hodgson is expected to carry out an important and eye-opening experiment in his squad. With their all-time top goal scorer Wayne Rooney (51 goals) unavailable for this clash due to his commitment with Manchester United in the FA Cup final, the England manager will forced to test the striking partnership of Spurs’ hitman Harry Kane and Leicester City’s goalpoacher Jamie Vardy. These two are widely seen as the future of England’s strike force, as Rooney could be headed to towards the peak of his career.

Kane and Vardy (below), who were teammates at Leicester City, have scored 49 league goals between them this season, and are expected to continue with the good run but this time round with the Three Lions.Kane and Vardy at England and Leicester City

In fact, Hodgson will be without almost half of his squad; the Liverpool quartet of Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana, James Milner and Daniel Sturridge will be unable to play as they are still fresh from the 3-1 loss to Sevilla in the final of the UEFA Europa League in Basel.

On the other hand, Manchester United duo of Marcus Rashford and Wayne Rooney will also be fresh from the FA Cup final to be played on Saturday at Wembley, hence making them unable to play one day later.

Recent form

The hosts have been quite impressive in their last six matches. They have won four and lost two, most recently against the Netherlands in an international friendly played on March 29, 2016. Turkey seem to be the stronger side on paper, having won five of their last six matches and drawn one.

However, England’s last six opponents seem stronger that Turkey’s; they consist of Estonia, Lithuania, Spain, France, Germany and the Netherlands. On the other hand, Turkey’s last six opponents were Czech Republic, Iceland, Qatar, Greece, Sweden, and Austria.
