Tags: Turkey, Croatia, Luka Modric
After trouncing Turkey 3-0 in Istanbul last Friday, Croatia’s spot in Poland-Ukraine is almost confirmed.
Tonight, Slaven Bilic’s men will welcome Guus Hiddink’s wounded warriors in Croatia. However, Luka Modric is not contemplating complacency. The Tottenham Hotspur talisman is aware of Turkey’s potential to turn the tables around.

According to Modric, the Croatians “have only done half the job”. Indeed, 90 more minutes are left to be played and the attacking midfielder is up for them.

“The most important thing is that we stay focused now. We can't relax, even a little bit. It could be very dangerous,” Modric stated in an interview with UEFA.com.

Germany earned their ninth win in nine matches in Group A in the qualifiers for Euro 2012. The team is the favourite for many fans and journalists alike to claim the Henri Delaunay trophy.
Even the strongest of teams have their weaknesses. Even the teams which play with unbelievable flair must learn how to win ugly. However, bringing out the weaknesses and forcing the opposition to play ugly is one of the toughest things for an underdog. Turkey found this out last night. Germany had nothing to play for but went on to claim three points.

Mesut Özil and Miroslav Klose played no part in the match. They both were out injured. So, instead Mario Götze and the free-scoring Mario Gomez stepped up and took the pitch by storm. He has been absolutely phenomenal for the Germans. He picked up a knock in Real Madrid’s 4-0 demolition of Espanyol. He is expected to recover soon though.

Turkey is second in the group, a full ten points behind Germany, and is looking to secure a play-off berth to make the Euros. Turkey is only two behinds ahead of third placed Belgium. Turkey vs Korea Republic Preview

Wednesday February 9 2011,
Tags: Turkey, Korea, Friendly
Turkey plays Korea in a very evenly matched friendly.
Korea is coming off a successful Asian Cup to look back on. They made it to the semi-finals of the tournament and lost out to Japan on penalties. In their previous international game, they played Uzbekistan in the third place play-off at the Asian Cup and won 3-2. Koo Ja-Cheol was the top scorer of the tournament with five goals. He recently earned a transfer to VfL Wolfsburg in Germany for his efforts.

Turkey failed to qualify for the World Cup in 2010. Plenty was expected of Turkey following their wonderful run to the semi-finals of the European Championships in 2008. However, they have disappointed since. Their qualification campaign for Euro 2012 hasn’t exactly gone to plan. They are third in Group A behind Germany and Austria with six points to show from four games.

Wednesday February 9 2011,
Tags: Korea, Turkey, International Friendly
Turkey will host Korea Rebuplic in a friendly match between two great friends and rivals at the Trabzon’s Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadium today.
The Koreans and Turks have faced each other for 6 times with the famous encounter at the 2002 World Cup Third Placing Playoff being the best.

The Turks also defeated the Koreans 7-0 in the 1954 World Cup and besides beating the Koreans 3-2 in 2002, they also set a new record when Hakan Şükür scored after just 10.8 seconds.

The best part was that Guus Hiddink was in charge of Korea when they faced Turkey in 2002 and it will be an emotional night as his current Turkey team take on his former employers, the Korea Republic.

Tuesday February 8 2011,
Tags: Turkey, Korea Republic, Guus Hiddink, Chelsea
Turkey will take on Korea Republic in a tough friendly match on Wednesday. Fans will be hoping for the recent reports linking Coach Guus Hiddink with Chelsea not to distract Turkey.
Earlier last month, the former Chelsea boss was rumoured to be on the Blues radar as a replacement for the unimpressive Carlo Ancelotti. But Guus Hiddink, who keeps insisting that a return to Stamford Bridge is impossible, declared:

“I can tell you that I’m fully committed to the Turkish federation. The national side is in a state of transition and we are trying to build a competitive team. That’s all I am focused on and that’s what I’m sticking to.

“I need to make this clear: I know about the whole situation at Chelsea right now. But I'm not going to come to London for a second time.

Netherlands vs Turkey Report

Wednesday November 17 2010,
Tags: Friendly, Netherlands, Turkey, Huntelaar, Hiddink
The Netherlands played in their own Capital, but it seemed to be an away match in Amsterdam on Wednesday. The many Dutch Turkish fans in the stands were noisy but they could not prevent their team from losing 1-0. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored again.
The Netherlands played their last match of 2010 and they end the year with the best international record around the world having played 17, winning 15, drawing 1. The only defeat came in the World Cup final versus Spain. Despite their splendid record and despite the noisy atmosphere in the Amsterdam Arena the Orange squad started uneasy. Turkey put pressure on the Dutch midfield, and both teams did not seem to be able to open up the game. In the second half Theo Janssen, who came on for Wesley Sneijder, gave the Dutch midfield a boost. Huntelaar scored in the 52nd minute after Hedwiges Maduro pushed through and provided a very precise assist.

Germany vs Turkey Preview

Friday October 8 2010,
Tags: Germany, Turkey, Euro 2012 Qualifiers
Germany takes on Turkey but is definitely not the clear favourite.
The home fans might actually be outnumbered by the away fans in this European championship qualifier between Germany and Turkey at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. The night will be a special for the likes of the Altintop brothers and Nuri Sahin as well as for one of the brightest and most coveted youngsters in world football, Mesut Özil.

Plenty of Turkish immigrants live in Germany; plenty of them support both the German and Turkish national team. Apparently, a large number of home fans will be rooting for the Turks if some recent reports arriving out of Germany are to be believed.

The Lincoln Financial Field stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania will open its gates for the United States vs Turkey match. The friendly encounter will kick off at 18:00 GMT.

USA players win.Things look to be going from bad to worse for the United States. The Americans’ recent 4-2 loss to the Czech Republic just reminded the team and the public how poor things have been after the 2009 Confederations Cup tournament. Aside from the fact that the USA lost the Gold Cup to Mexico following a humiliating defeat in the final last year, statistics reveal that the Americans have won only once in their last five matches.

The USA didn’t fail to score in each of these five games but if they netted seven times, they also conceded thirteen goals. Bob Bradley needs to change things around before it’s too late. After Saturday’s game against Turkey, the United States will have only one more chance to set final plans as they’ll play Australia on June 4.
