The current leaders of the CONMEBOL Qualifiers will face a tough opposition when they host Paraguay at

Everyone thought that Ecuador's first win during the Qualifiers was just a matter of luck, but Gustavo Quinteros' side hasn't slown down and now they face the chance to get six points away from their nearest opponent. Their home game against Paraguay should provide them with a needed boost in order to make a comeback to the global tournament, where they disappointed theif fans by failing to qualify to the K.O. stage.

On the other hand, Paraguay's campaign hasn't been as consistent but Ramon Díaz's men have at least made their way into the team's record books. Following their goal-less draw against Argentina, los Guaraníes lost to Perú and defeated Bolivia, earning a well deserved fourth spot in the qualifiers but with much work to be done.

Ecuador

Quinteros decided to call up almost the same names that have given La Tricolor its current success, with the only addition of Felipe Caicedo, who missed some of the team's games due to injury. Added to Caicedo's return, Club América midfielder Michael Arroyo will bring his dribbling skills back with the yellow team, and veteran Walter Ayovi will be trying to add caps to his tally and get closer to the team's record-holder: Iván Hurtado.

One of the keys for Ecuador's success has been its defense. La Tricolor has only conceded twice in four games, helping the team to reach a perfect record so far.

Paraguay

Ramón Angel Díaz is trying to bring back the glory days for Paraguay, as La Albirroja struggled since their historic performance in the 2010 World Cup. With the lack of a true leader, Paraguay finished last in the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers, but their Argentine coach has already made a better job than his predecessor, leading the team to the semi finals in last year's Copa América.

For this call up, Díaz called up a mixture of young talented players and a core of experienced footballers. Curiously enough, most of those veterans play in the Mexican league. Captain Paulo Da Silva (Toluca), Miguel Samudio, Osvaldo Martinez (América) and striker Edgar Benítez. But all of the team's hopes of shocking Ecuador will rely on Roque Santa Cruz's skills, as Los Guaranies' all-time top scorer.

Head to head

These teams have played 14 World Cup Qualifying games, and things couldn't be tighter between them. Paraguay has emerged victorious seven times, while Ecuador has won six matches. In their 14 qualifying games, neither side has been able to defeat the other on foreign soil. Their only draw happened on April of 2009, when la Albirroja snatched a point from Ecuador with a 1-1 draw.
