Arsenal superstar Mesut Ozil is currently under contract at the Emirates Stadium until 2018, but fans will hope to see the German ace extend his deal as soon as possible.
In great form this season – he has 4 goals and 16 assists to his name – he revealed to Kicker back in December (as per Independent) that he is in “no rush” to sign a new deal with the Gunners.
Now, Marca claim that the 27-year-old has grown dejected with life in north London and is seeking a move away from Arsenal. According to the Spanish publication, Mesut is plotting a return to La Liga.
Marca report that the World Cup winner has rejected a new deal from the FA Cup holders, as he intends on leaving at the end of the season after giving up hope on becoming serious Champions League contenders with Arsenal, a promise made to him prior to his London arrival.
Barca are aware of Ozil’s desire and have approached the player’s representatives, as written by the Spanish outlet, with the former Real Madrid man ranked highly by the Blaugrana.
The Catalan giants have long been admirers of the “Assist Master”, having been linked with Mesut back in 2010 before he signed for Los Blancos. However, any move for the German international could prove tricky for Luis Enrique’s side down to the competition they’ll face.

Furthermore, as revealed by Football Leaks, Real Madrid had a buy-back clause inserted in Ozil’s Arsenal deal which grants the 10-time Champions League winners 48 hours to either match or better any bid tabled for the German.
