Sunday’s highly-anticipated Manchester derby will give both United and City the opportunity of bragging rights and the chance to claim whether the town is red or blue.
The Citizens hold the upper advantage in this historic clash, having won all of their four last meetings. The last time Manchester City suffered defeat at the hands of the Red Devils was over two years ago, back in December of 2013.
Manchester United, currently occupying third place, head into the clash on the back of an impressive run, as they seek a sixth straight win in the league. The 20-time champions will look to claim a home victory against their arch rivals for the first time since February of 2011.
They will however have to do this without some key players. Dutch striker Robin Van Persie has recovered from injury but will not be ready for the Old Trafford clash. Doubts remain over the fitness of Chris Smalling, whilst Luke Shaw and John Evans are guaranteed no-shows due to injury and a suspension, respectively.
The Citizens may have some big names missing from their squad as well. January signing Wilfried Bony will not play any part in the game by ankle and knee problem, whilst Stefan Jovetic also appears set to miss out.
Manuel Pellegrini will be depending on Argentine striker Sergio Aguero to turn up, hoping the 26-year-old will deliver an impressive performance. However, the former Atletico Madrid man has not found the back of the net for five games in a row, with his last English Premier League goal coming in February.
Louis Van Gaal, on the other hand, will be relying on captain fantastic Wayne Rooney, in contrast with Aguero, has scored four times in Manchester United last four games in England.
In Sunday's Manchester derby, much more than just three points is at stake. Pride and honor is up for the taking, but which side will grab it? Watch the game and find out!
