The last time the Three Lions won any major international trophy was in 1966...so just imagine how the British press would react should they win in Brazil!

The last time England won any international trophy was back in 1966, when the Three Lions hosted the World Cup and emerged as victors.

It would turn out to be the last time they won anything to date, as they have failed to win a single EURO tournament nor another World Cup since.

Still, that has not prevented the British press from beating the drums and hyping up the squad ahead of every major event, only to turn on the team when they return home empty-handed.

And as usual, bookies are out in full force, placing bets on the likelihood of Roy Hodgson's men coming back from Brazil with the trophy.

Anyway, for those who do not care much for gambling, there are a whole bunch of amusing mocked- up photos of what Britain's newspapers will look like should the Three Lions make the impossible become a reality.

Note, some of the more humorous ones have a bit of vulgarity in them that could offend those who are highly sensitive to that kind of thing; hence those either have not been included or the photos have been modified accordingly.

Incredible: England somehow defeats Germany 5-0 and all...chaos breaks loose

Not surprisingly, though, all the celebrations take its toll on not just, of course, the nation's alcohol
supply but also more important, the economy.

Last time England won was 48 years ago. And somehow, 48 years from now they will still be waiting for their third World Cup...
