Splendid Real Madrid will host struggling Villarreal on La Liga’s ninth Matchday. Kick-off time for this fixture is at 8:00pm GMT and 4:00pm EST.
Cristiano Ronaldo often has a good game against Villarreal.
In mid-October, Villarreal managed nothing more than a goalless draw against Getafe. After receiving a big slap in the face by surprise package Levante last weekend, the Yellow Submarines seriously need to turn the tables around or else sink deeper in their troubles.
But the Santiago Bernabeu is definitely not the best venue for visitors to make things happen. In addition, the current form of Real Madrid comes as a big obstacle to Villarreal’s hopes of getting a positive result on Wednesday night.
Los Blancos have scored 18 goals in their last 4 matches in the Spanish Primera Division. They've also conceded only thrice during the past 450 minutes. Getafe, Rayo Vallecano and Real Betis have all gone under the power of Real Madrid at the Bernabeu this season. Villarreal could be the Spanish giants' next victims.
The Yellow Submarines will enter the match with a terrible 1-7 away record in terms of goals scored and goals conceded. Real Madrid cruised to victory at the Santiago Bernabeu at the expense of Villarreal’s miserable Yellow Submarines.
Di Maria made two assists and scored one goal as Madrid defeated Villarreal.
Angel di Maria stunned Villarreal’s defense with a terrific pass and French striker Karim Benzema was there to connect with a bold finish which deceived Diego Lopez. Only 6 minutes had gone down the clock but the Yellow Submarines were already under pressure.
Cristiano Ronaldo tried his luck quickly after with a shot from the edge of the box but Lopez got to it this time. However, the troubles of the keeper quickly multiplied as Kaka continued his remarkable record against Villarreal with an 11th minute goal.
On the half hour mark, Angel di Maria finally got rewarded for providing the assist for the 2 previous goals. The Argentine winger made it 3-0 with a left-footed strike which went into the bottom corner of the net.
Real Madrid lost their sharpness in the second period but it didn’t mean much for them. The damage to Villarreal had already been done. Giuseppe Rossi made left the pitch on the hour mark. Later on, Di Maria made way for Özil and Gonzalo Higuain replaced Benzema as the game got treated with a slower pace.
