Barcelona vs Osasuna Match Preview
Osasuna don’t come anywhere near matching Barcelona’s strength on paper but tonight’s hosts aren’t ready to be fooled by overconfidence.

Guardiola is not taking Osasuna's potential for granted, but he wants Barca to win at all cost.
Barcelona vs Osasuna is one of the 5 matches in La Liga which will take place on Saturday. With rivals Real Madrid playing only on Sunday, Barca have a genuine opportunity to erase the 2-point gap which keeps them away from the very top of the Spanish Primera Division table.
Thus far, Osasuna are unbeaten in La Liga. Last week, they clinched a valuable victory against Sporting Gijon to join Barcelona on 4 points. Only goal difference puts Osasuna behind the Catalan at this early stage and coach Pep Guardiola is aware of this team’s threat.
As he stated at a press conference on Friday, Pep is expecting a tough one-on-one encounter with Osasuna coach Mendilibar at the Camp Nou on Saturday night.
“Mendilíbar, both at Valladolid and now with Osasuna, is not a manager who speculates,” said the Barcelona coach.
“He creates pressure, he’s aggressive, and his teams have always caused us problems. Mendilíbar is a manager who gets his personality across and I suppose something similar will happen on Saturday.”
But tonight's visitors would remember that Villarreal suffered a 5-0 trouncing on their trip to the Camp Nou on match-day 1. Should Osasuna emulate Real Sociedad and AC Milan by preventing Barcelona from winning, expect football pundits to seriously question the Catalans’ current situation.
Barcelona vs Osasuna Match Report
Barcelona have scored 15 goals in 3 match-days already! They trounced Osasuna 8-0 tonight. Who dared to predict a crisis for the Catalans after they drew twice in a row lately?

Childhood friends Messi and Fabregas inspired Barca to their biggest victory under Pep.
Lionel Messi unlocked the gates after only 5 minutes before Cesc Fabregas doubled the Catalans’ lead a few moments later. David Villa added a third goal inside the 34th minute to assure Barca supporters of the team’s strength in depth.
From there it became a matter of scoring for fun. The Camp Nou transformed into a total hell for visitors Osasuna. First, Roversio scored an own goal to pile up the pressure on his team. The unfortunate incident happened when David Villa produced a shot which bounced off Fernandez before cannoning off Roversio and past the goal line.
In a blink of an eye, Lionel Messi put Barcelona 5-0 up; the Catalans could head into the dressing rooms with a big smile on their face. Typically, Barcelona didn’t relax in the second half. The players looked determined to offer the home crowd a real show and they certainly succeeded in doing so.
Xavi banged in Barca’s sixth goal of the night to finish off a sumptuous Messi pass. Pep Guardiola felt that maestro Xavi had done enough. The coach replaced him with substitute Ibrahim Afellay on the hour mark.
If Osasuna were thinking that Xavi’s absence would affect Barca’s attacking options, they were wrong. The visitors thought they had found a consolation goal in the 66th minute but it got ruled out for offside.
David Villa punished Osasuna’s defense 10 minutes later through a tap in while Lionel Messi completed his hat-trick inside the 79th minute. Until the final whistle went up, Barcelona used the final minutes of the match to run down the clock.
On Saturday night, the fantastic combination of Lionel Messi alongside Cesc Fabregas, David Villa, Dani Alves and Xavi Hernandez was apparently simply too hot for Osasuna to handle.
