Atlas played spoiler at the Estadio Jalisco as they held Tigres UANL to just a draw and crushed their playoff chances, leaving them vulnerable be left out by Pumas, an event that ultimately did happen when UNAM beat América the next day.With 24 points, Tigres were just one point away from making the postseason, while Atlas' 13 meant they were the tournament's worst overall team.
After Lucas Lobos and Itamar Batista had put the yellow-clad team up 2-0 after a half-hour of play, an Alfredo Moreno penalty kick brought the home team within one.
The second half was tenuous for both clubs, but another mistake within their own box meant Moreno had the opportunity to bury a second PK, which he was able to do to bring the score 2-2.
Five minutes later, Tigres were handed a golden opportunity when Enrique Vera was sent off for Atlas, but they were unable to capitalize and the match ended all square.
Hebert Alferez was also sent off for Atlas, albeit the fact he was on the bench.
