San Luis vs Santos Laguna Match Report
Parity reigned in a match between two teams that were already assured of playing in the elite eight that defines the Mexican league champion.
The tournament's leading scorer, Christian Benitez, and Diego de la Torre, combined to set the final score in this one during a span of just five minutes.
Benitez's 54th minute strike opened proceedings and sent the home team's offense - down 0-1 and one of the worst in the league - into a frenzy.
A barrage of opportunities culminated in a foul just outside the box, which de la Torre banged in beyond the reach of Oswaldo Sanchez and made the score 1-1.
Ruben Omar Romano and Ignacio Ambriz's clubs are third and fifth, respectively, with stamped tickets to the Liguilla and are now just awaiting pairing in the quarterfinals. Currently, Santos would face Jaguares while San Luis would face América.
