A spectacular hat-trick from Mauro Cejas launched Estudiantes Tecos out of the danger zone within the relegation table, nearly destroyed the defending champion's chances of back-to-back titles and practically saved their own manager's job in one fell swoop.Fifteen minutes in the second half was all it took to get this match going at the Tres de Marzo as minutes 48 through 63 produced four goals on the game's scoreline.
Néstor Calderon opened the game up in favor of the visitors when he swept home an Edgar Dueñas cross. Three minutes later, Cejas struck for the first of this three goals. Toluca got the lead back in the 53rd when Gustvo Cabral produced an own goal.
Finally, Mauro Cejas willed Tecos back into the match when he scored off a Fredy Bareiro pass in the 63rd.
Debutant Daniel Cisneros opened the match up for the home team nine minutes from the death when he scored his first Primera Division goal, and Cejas capped off his special night with another goal in the 86th.
