Boca coach Julio Cesar Falcioni rested several of Boca's key players for the clash, including playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme. While San Lorenzo, who are coached by Leonardo Madelon, confronted the match with a full-strength squad.
San Lorenzo, who unveiled their latest reinforcement in former Boca striker Carlos Bueno, started the stronger of the two sides, and looked particularly dangerous in the attack, due to the aggressive-nature of their front-men.
