Two teams fighting for distinctly dissimilar goals will be playing each other in yet another London derby in the English Premier League at White Hart Lane.

Preview: Will Spurs edge towards Europe or will Fulham edge towards survival?

Felix Magath was hired to save Fulham from relegation. Initially, things were rocky. Currently, Fulham find themselves very close to pulling off a “great escape”. A 1-0 victory over Norwich, which could have easily been so different (this was reflected by Felix Magath’s rather critical mood following the match) had Norwich converted some of their chances has left Fulham two points from safety. A slip from Norwich in the final four games could swing the battle in Fulham’s favor.

Tottenham showed great spirit to come back from a losing position against West Brom to draw the game 3-3; nonetheless, the point, despite Everton’s loss in midweek, was not good enough. Tim Sherwood’s attack minded side, a victim of a rampant Liverpool not too long ago, sits a full six points behind Everton. Their aim of a top four finish might remain unfulfilled yet again.

Erik Lamela. Roberto Soldado, Etienne Capoue, Kyle Walker and Jan Vertonghen are all out for Spurs for this one. Sandro and Michael Dawson are doubtful. Mousa Dembele has returned to the squad. Damien Duff and Kostas Mitroglou are out for Fulham. Dan Burn and Giorgios Karagounis are both doubtful. Lewis Holtby is ineligible to feature against his parent club. This is rather unfortunate for Fulham because he is a creative spark for them.

Fulham, on average, under Magath, has managed to score one goal per game statistically. This is quite good considering the German coach does not ask his team to play expansive football as his predecessors did. Also, following his hiring, the team has collected, on average, 1.3 points per game, compared to 0.8 prior to his employment. This is of course a significant improvement.

Can Magath’s side pick up the full complement of points against Tottenham and cause a surprise? Let us know your thoughts below!
