History slightly favours the Oranje, who have defeated les Bleus 10 out of the 22 times the two sides have met.

France vs Netherlands friendly matchPreview: Deschamps drops some big names as his side welcomes a familiar foe

The two sides have faced off on numerous occasions, with the Netherlands enjoying the better head-to-head record as the last meeting ended as a 4-1 victory in their favour during the group stages in the EURO 2008 tournament.

However, a lot has changed since then, and with both teams having already qualified for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil, French national team coach Deschamps has opted to mix things up in his side for the friendly encounter.

Gone are the likes of Manchester City stars Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy; in their stead will feature Real Sociedad youngster Antoine Griezmann for his first senior cap, as well as Porto's Eliaquim Mangala who has only featured once previously for Les Bleus.

Not surprisingly in the squad are Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, alongside Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery who has missed several games for his club team after undergoing surgery. Ligue 1 leaders PSG have both Yohan Cabaye and Blaise Matuidi as part of the national setup.

Karim Benzema, who has enjoyed a good run of form for Real Madrid in both their league and continental campaigns will be one of the three strikers expected to spearhead his team's attack, as is Arsenal's Olivier Giroud.

As for the visitors, Louis Van Gaal has given Schalke hitman Klaas-Jan Huntelaar his first call-up since last August as a result of his strong performances since his return from an injury lay-off. Die Roten will have another of their players possibly featuring with Arjen Robben also being included in the 23-man list--not surprising given his sparkling form for Pep Guardiola's men, notably his hat-trick against Schalke this past Saturday.

On the other hand, despite not really finding his touch so far this season for Manchester United, Robin Van Persie also finds himself among the seven forwards selected. PSG has a third member also potentially featuring on Wednesday with Gregory van der Wiel as part of the Oranje's defense. And Serie A has another representative in Roma's recent midfield signing Kevin Strootman.

Like his counterpart, Van Gaal has also added a smattering of novices to his squad, with the likes of Twente's Quincy Promes and 18-year-old Feyenoord winger Jean-Paul Boetius possibly having the chance to showcase their talents on the international stage.
