Preview: Key figures missing in David Moyes’ first game
The 65,000-seater Rajamangala stadium in Bangkok will be set ablaze on Saturday, July 13, 2013. Manchester United will kick off their pre-season tour against Singa All Star XI in the Singha 80th Anniversary Cup.
The exclusion of injured superstar Wayne Rooney, along with Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Nani, Chris Smalling and skipper Nemanja Vidic, has not toned down the excitement of this friendly. There is still plenty to look forward to even if David de Gea, Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie are yet to join the Man United FC squad.
Ex-Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha is expected to make his first ever appearance under a Red Devil shirt. Evergreen Ryan Giggs will be present whereas Manchester United’s backline will have top-class experience in the form of Rio Ferdinand and former AS Monaco defender Patrice Evra.

Confirmed squads
For David Moyes, this pre-season friendly in Bangkok will be his first in charge. He is largely poised to come out of it with a resounding victory. However, the Singha All Star XI will be looking to give a good account of Thai football. The team will be coached by Thailand Premier League director Dr Vichit Yamboonruang and ex-Thailian striker Piyapong Pue-on. It will feature players from Buriram United and Muangthong United but prolific TPL goalscorers Carmelo and Javier Patino are likely to miss out.
