Two points separate two London giants going into the final day of the season. With David Moyes’ help, Arsenal can avoid the playoff spot altogether.

Chelsea is two points ahead of Arsenal while Spurs is one point behind Arsenal. Hence, the Gunners have to keep one eye behind them and one eye ahead of them going into the final weekend. Moyes is departing Everton after eleven long years; he could turn out to help Arsenal in his final game in charge at Merseyside inadvertently.

Moyes’ watery eyes showed just how much Everton meant to him in his last home game in charge. He will want to hand the fans one final gift before heading out of the club; he will be looking to plan out a win over Chelsea. On the other hand, the Chelsea players will want to give their outgoing coach, Rafael Benitez, a fitting goodbye. He guided them to the Europa League trophy after all.

Provided that Moyes’ team beats Chelsea, the pathway for Arsenal to finish as the third power behind the two Manchester clubs will be cleared. However, the Gunners must win their game against Newcastle United to ensure a spot in the top four in the first place. They are dependent on nobody’s results. The previous meeting between the Gunners and Newcastle was closer than the 7-3 score line suggested.

The game had been close for long periods until Arsenal started running away with it towards the end. Therefore, this game could be closer than many expect it to be. Arsenal turned around their season at the Allianz Arena with a victory over the mighty Bayern, the same Bayern who took Barcelona apart. Arsenal has the quality to beat Newcastle but must not disappoint on the day.

The Gunners have a habit of playing extremely poorly on some days; they have poor patches every season. While they are not going through one currently, the potential to disappoint is definitely not minimal. The fans will want the best Arsenal for this match. Olivier Giroud had tormented Newcastle greatly in their earlier meeting; he is back after serving out a three match suspension. Arsene Wenger might stick to Lukas Podolski up front though considering the German’s double against Wigan on Tuesday.

The Everton fans do not need to demand more from their players. Moyes has drilled the importance of effort into them. Everton finishes every season well only because they are capable of such efforts. They are a talented side which understands the importance of working hard. They will definitely want to give their all for Moyes one last time.

A win for Everton will bring down the curtains on Moyes’ Everton career on a wonderful note. If Arsenal and Everton win, Chelsea’s campaign will not end on a happy note. With Moyes’ help, Arsenal could end up usurping Chelsea.

In many ways, the third spot could set to be decided by David Moyes’ departure to Manchester United. All in all, we are all set to be entertained highly on Sunday.
