Most-watched soccer games in the USA: April 1-7, 2024

The USA viewership numbers for soccer games held from April 1 to April 7, 2024, are officially in, with several competitions making this list. However, to no one's surprise, one match stood head and shoulders above the rest and that was Liverpool's thrilling encounter with Manchester United on Sunday.

The Reds drew 2-2 and thus surrendered the lead to rivals Arsenal in the Premier League as goals from Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, Bruno Fernandes, and Kobbie Maino meant both teams came away with a point. This tie garnered a whopping 1,179,000 average viewers for NBC and a rating of 0.7.

This game's average viewership totaled 1.5 million across NBC and NBCUniversal's Spanish-language TV network Telemundo, thus reminding everyone of the Premier League's popularity in the USA.

Second spot on this list also went to an English top-flight fixture, this time Chelsea's disappointing draw away to Sheffield United, which was another Sunday match. This was also an NBC broadcast, with this fixture garnering 885,000 average viewers as Pochettino's men dropped points for the 18th time this season.

And finally, a most-watched-soccer-games list in the USA would not be complete without a Liga MX game in the top three, and that is exactly what we got last week, with Guadalajara's 3-2 victory over Puebla wrapping things up.

This tie earned just over half a million average viewers — 648,000, to be precise — for Telemundo as Chivas continue pushing for a spot in the final series.

Lionel Messi's Inter Miami also made this list, though not the top three, thanks to their CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinal showdown with Liga MX side Monterrey. The first leg garnered over 300,000 average viewers, with 199,000 tuning in to TUDN while 115,000 caught the action live on FS1.

Sporting KC vs. Inter Miami live this Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET exclusively on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV

Inter Miami are back in action this weekend, with the MLS side facing Sporting KC on the back of their disappointing midweek result away to Monterrey. Messi and Co. visited the Liga MX outfit for the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinal tie needing to overturn a 2-1 deficit but instead lost 3-1 (5-2 on aggregate), thus crashing out of the tournament. As a result, Tata Martino's side are now on a five-game winless run and desperately need to beat the Wizards on Saturday.

Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace live this Sunday at 9 a.m. ET on USA Network and Telemundo

Will Liverpool bounce back from their embarrassing home defeat against Atalanta in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals or will the Reds crumble? This is the question on everyone's mind after the Merseyside giants were beaten 3-0 at Anfield by the Serie A outfit. Klopp's men also dropped points away to Manchester United last weekend, drawing 2-2, and surrendered the lead to Arsenal as a result. Salah and Co. cannot afford further slip-ups in this season's heated three-horse Premier League title race.

Arsenal vs. Aston Villa live this Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET on USA Network and Telemundo

Arsenal take center stage in the Premier League this weekend thanks to their highly-anticipated showdown with fifth-placed Aston Villa on Sunday. The last time these two sides met, the Gunners lost 1-0, meaning Arteta's men will be out for revenge this weekend. The North London giants are yet to lose a Premier League game in 2024 but enter this tie on the back of their disappointing 2-2 draw at home to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League. Unai Emery's side, on the flip side, are winless in all but one of their last five top-flight fixtures but triumphed on Thursday in their UEFA Europa Conference League clash with Lille. Don't miss this Emirates Stadium showdown.

UEFA Champions League quarterfinals wrap up this midweek as Paramount+ and ViX bring live coverage of Barcelona vs. PSG, Bayern vs. Arsenal, and Man City vs. Real Madrid

The UEFA Champions League quarterfinals come to a wrap this midweek, with several continental powerhouses fighting to make it to the semifinals. This includes Barcelona and PSG, who will lock horns on Tuesday in the second leg as the Catalan giants look to build on their 3-2 win at the Parc des Princes.

The two other blockbuster fixtures — Bayern Munich vs. Arsenal and Manchester City vs. Real Madrid — are locked in a stalemate, with the Gunners snatching a 2-2 draw in the first leg while Los Blancos escaped with a 3-3 tie against the reigning champions.

All four games plus the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals can be streamed live on Paramount+ and ViX in the USA, as AC Milan and Liverpool eye comebacks in the latter competition. This week in women's soccer, April 12, April 18, NWSL, Frauen-Bundesliga, FA Women's Cup, Women's Super League

The international break is now over, which means it's back to club soccer for many of the top leagues around the world.

Here's all you need to know ahead of another week in women's soccer.

What to watch in women's soccer: April 12th to April 14th

NWSL

The NWSL gets back underway starting from Friday, April 12th. One of Friday's games will feature Utah Royals vs. Orlando Pride, with both teams eager to start putting some consistent results together when they square off. Other key games taking place this round include Chicago Red Stars vs. Angel City, which takes place on Saturday as Chicago Red Stars hope their renaissance this season will continue at the expense of an Angel City yet to get up and running. Finally, on Sunday, it's NY/NJ Gotham vs. Kansas City Current, with the Current, who are the league leaders and the only side still with a perfect winning record after three games, aiming to make it four wins in four against Gotham.

Frauen-Bundesliga

Soccer in Germany returns on April 12th as the latest round of matches in the 2023/24 Frauen-Bundesliga season gets underway. Fans in the USA can live-stream some of these matches on DAZN USA, with the action starting with Werder Bremen vs. RB Leipzig on Friday. Other games you will not want to miss and that will be live streamed on DAZN USA include Freiburg vs. Wolfsburg, with Wolfsburg aiming to rebound after two back-to-back losses that have let Bayern Munich surge clear at the top of the table. Speaking of Bayern Munich, die Roten will look to extend their lead when they travel to face Duisburg on Sunday.

FA Women's Cup

On Sunday, April 14th there's an exciting double header in the FA Women's Cup. Fans in the USA have a great chance to live stream two great matches on ESPN+, starting with Tottenham vs. Leicester, which kicks off at 7 a.m. ET. Then, at 9:35 a.m. ET, Manchester United will lock horns with Chelsea, with the Blues aiming to take one step closer to successfully retaining their FA Women's Cup crown.

WSL

Meanwhile, over in the WSL, Arsenal will be playing their makeup game against Bristol City on Sunday. The Gunners presently find themselves in third place, six points behind Chelsea and nine behind current league leaders Manchester City. It goes without saying that they will really need to step it up if they want to have any glimmer of hope at catching the top two - and that will start with picking up all three points in this upcoming game.

What to watch in women's soccer: April 15th to April 18th

Serie A (Women)

A great clash will be in store with Roma vs. Juventus, and that match, which kicks off at 12 p.m. ET (9 a.m. PT) will be live-streamed on DAZN USA. Although Roma have a whopping eight-point lead over their upcoming opponents, the Giallorosse, who are aiming to successfully defend their Scudetto crown, will still not be taking the Bianconere lightly as they hope to finally put the Serie A title race to bed once and for all.

Frauen-Bundesliga

DAZN USA's coverage of the latest round of Frauen-Bundesliga ties concludes with Hoffenheim vs. Köln. Hoffenheim have found some form lately and will come into Monday's match having won four on the spin, while their upcoming visitors are narrowly just hovering above the drop zone.

WSL

Following their involvement in the Women's FA Cup, Chelsea will return to WSL duties as the Blues host Aston Villa. Given that the reigning WSL champions have fallen a bit behind league leaders Manchester City, the pressure will certainly be on Emma Hayes's team to try to avoid any slip-ups in this crunch tie.
