The Champions League’s Last 16 will see two teams from Germany, Spain, Russia, England, France and Italy competing. Benfica, APOEL and Basel are the sole representatives of their respective country.
Barcelona are poised to get a comfortable draw. The Catalans overcame the challenge posed by AC Milan in Group H. After qualifying at the head of this section, Barca can expect to be paired with an unseeded team relatively inferior to them in size.

APOEL are the odd contenders among the seeded teams. Arsenal did quite well and the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League season could be their time to shine. However, avoiding AC Milan is one of the Gunners’ dreams.

Interestingly, Benfica enter Friday’s UEFA Champions League Last 16 draw as seeded. This is the Eagles’ reward for dominating over favorites Manchester United in Group C.

Benfica can therefore sigh in relief. Giants Bayern Munich, Internazionale, Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona are teams they’ll definitely avoid.

Real Madrid gathered the most points in the group stages of the competition. No team matched their perfect run in 6 matchdays. Eventually, no runners-up wish to meet the Group D winners.

However, AC Milan lead the way as the most dangerous runners-up. Underdogs Napoli and FC Basel are also not to underestimate. These two teams are responsible for the exit of Manchester’s representatives, City and United.

Group A’s Bayern Munich, Group B’s Internazionale, Group C’s Benfica, Group D’s Real Madrid, Group E’s Chelsea, Group F’s Arsenal, Group G’s APOEL and Group H’s Barcelona complete the pot of seeded teams.

Napoli, CSKA Moscow, FC Basel, Olympique Lyon, Bayer Leverkusen, Olympique Marseille, Zenit St. Petersburg and AC Milan finished as runners-up in the group phase.
