Luka Modric’s exclusion from tonight’s mouthwatering English Premier League match between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur has been confirmed.
The Croatian star didn’t join Spurs on their trip to Old Trafford. It was first thought that Modric had remained in London through injury. However, ahead of the match on Sunday, Coach Harry Redknapp told reporters in a disappointed mood:

“Someone has turned Luka's head. Luka will not be with us tomorrow. He has a bit of an injury he could have played through but his head's not in the right place at present. We need to get it all sorted out.”

Harry Redknapp wants Luka Modric will extend his contract at White Hart Lane. With Chelsea and Valencia confirming Juan Mata’s arrival at Stamford Bridge, Redknapp is also hoping that Chelsea’s Modric deal will collapse. Reacting to the Mata transfer report, the Tottenham Hotspur boss told Talksport on Sunday:

“Chelsea have signed him? I didn’t know that. Well, I would think that’s the end of the Modric deal then, surely. I had no idea about that [Juan Mata transfer news].

“But I want to keep him [Luka Modric] for sure. I just felt that if he didn’t want to be here that much that maybe we might have to sell him.
“If people don’t want to play for you, you might have to sell him and go and get three or four players in.”

Due to this month’s UK rioting, Tottenham Hotspur are yet to kick off their English Premier League campaign. Harry Redknapp’s record at Old Trafford isn’t really positive, so Spurs supporters can only hope for an upset to hit Manchester United tonight.
