Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur: Champions League qualification tickets in Spurs’ hands

The day: Sat Mar 24. The venue: Stamford Bridge. The visitors: Tottenham Hotspurs: The stakes. 4th place.
All right. A win for the Blues will not catapult them to 4th but will bring them within striking distance of Spurs threatening that precious berth and a lucrative Champions League eligibility.

Chelsea are riding a very high crest since Andres Villas Boas's departure. Under Roberto Di Matteo, they have won 4 of their last 5 games including overturning a 3-1 deficit to Napoli. Suddenly, Chelsea have a lot to play for including the FA Cup and qualification for next season’s CL.

Chelsea lost their midweek meeting to Man City but only just as Spurs drew with Stoke. Tottenham have yet to win a premier league game in 2012 so they have chosen the wrong time to go through a blip. Chelsea have been galvanized since Di Matteo’s appointment and it appears the dressing room of the old guard have suddenly awoken from a strange deep slumber.

Crash! - We saw this dip coming for Tottenham and Harry Redknapp

Thursday March 8 2012,
Tags: Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham is no longer part of the Premier League title race. They are slowly getting pulled down towards fourth place.
Four points is all that separates Spurs from their bitter North London rivals Arsenal. Spurs was the talk of the Premiere League for much of the season but is starting to fall away at the most vital point of the season- where every win almost counts double. Two drubbings in the hands of Arsenal and Manchester United respectively have left Harry Redcap’s crew writhing in agony.

While losing to United is no anomaly for Spurs, losing in the fashion they did especially at home was rather shameful. The bruises Spurs suffered from the London derby will not be forgotten soon, especially considering they squandered a 0-2 lead. As we all know by now, Champions do not squander 0-2 leads.

Many believe that former genuine English Premier League title contenders Arsenal must part company with coach Arsene Wenger to restore the club’s pride.
However, Harry Redknapp doesn’t share this opinion. The Tottenham Hotspur manager, who could pile more misery his London rivals on Sunday, claims that Wenger and Arsenal are a match made in heaven.

“Arsenal can't do any better than what they have got. They can't replace Wenger, can they?

“He's been amazing with the job he has done there. They have had 15 years of Champions League football and play amazing football.”

Arsenal are virtually out of the UEFA Champions League. On the domestic front, things don’t look very bright either. Recently, the Gunners crashed out of the FA Cup.

Capello quits England: Redknapp, John Terry & the Euro 2012 chances

The John Terry saga has affected the future of the entire English national team. Fabio Capello is gone, Harry Redknapp’s appointment is perhaps just a matter of time and Euro 2012 is around the corner…
When Capello heard that John Terry had been stripped by the FA from his England captaincy due to the on-going race row involving Anton Ferdinand, he told Rai1:

“I do not agree with that decision. I also talked with the chairman, saying that I think Terry can't be sanctioned until a court, a civil court not the sport one, judge him guilty or not about what he is accused of. That's why I think Terry should keep the captaincy.”

These public comments eventually provoked the FA’s anger. It was understood that Fabio Capello had breached his contract by openly criticizing England’s Football Association. Upon request, the Italian man attended a meeting on Wednesday with general secretary Alex Home and FA chairman David Bernstein. Moments later, the manager’s resignation hit the headlines.

Football must influence kids to lower riot risks—Spurs’ Harry Redknapp

Harry Redknapp believes that football can leave its prints on children as they grow and eventually avoid violence from the youth.
The Tottenham Hotspur boss is worried by the current situation England is facing—as a portion of the youth has rocked London, Birmingham and Manchester United by looting and burning places. According to Redknapp, footballers have responsibilities to assume in order to avoid such ugly scenes and periods in the history of the country.

“I really believe football can help. When I was a young player at West Ham, we used to go into the schools every afternoon and coach kids.

“All the players went including Trevor Brooking, Frank Lampard and me. It was great for us and brilliant for the kids to mix with footballers." "All clubs - including Spurs - do some amazing work in the community.

Luka Modric Transfer Rumors: Tottenham Issue Strong Statement Of Intent

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has reiterated that Luka Modric will not be allowed to leave White Hart Lane this summer.
Luka Modric has been the subject of intense speculations over the past few days with reports claiming that the Croatian could be tempted for a move to Chelsea this summer. However, Harry Redknapp has consistently denied all this rumors despite apparently having received a 'ridiculous' bid for the midfielder.

That piece of news came after Spurs rejected a 22 million bid from Chelsea for the Croatian midfielder and even he offered some clue of his preferred destination.

Harry Redknapp is determined to keep hold of his 'priceless' Luka Modric after reports emerged that Man United could be in the line to sign the Croatian.

The Croatian playmaker has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as a replacement for Paul Scholes but Redknapp now claims that none of this rumors will have any end products.

"We are not selling Luka Modric, we are not selling Gareth Bale, we are not selling Sandro," Redknapp told Sky Sports News. "We are looking to build a team, not dismantle one and they are players we need to keep and add to if we are to get back in the Champions League again.

Tottenham Hotspur Vs Real Madrid: Are Spurs Right To Dream Big?

Wednesday April 13 2011,
Tags: Michael Dawson, Harry Redknapp
While the talent present in Harry Redknapp's squad is absolutely perpetual, the belief needed to overcome a huge deficit is certainly something that has been escalating within the Spurs team.

Tottenham Hotspur will host a very buoyant Real Madrid side tonight in a match that ultimately seems like the focal point in their imposing season so far. Having lost 4-0 in the first leg at the Bernebeu last week, this engagement at White Hart Lane merely seems to many as a consolation match for Spurs to salvage some pride ahead of their on-going battle for European spots in the Premier League.

Per contra, spirit seems to be at a peak point in the dressing room at Spurs and players have already signaled their intent to be firing at all cylinders when Mourinho's men take them on later tonight. But the only debate is, are Spurs right to dream big about their chances?

Tottenham Hotspur may be content with playing for pride against Real Madrid tonight, although nothing is impossible. So does Mourinho’s opinion appear as pure arrogance or not?

Tottenham Hotspur vs Real Madrid means that Spurs have huge moutains to climb.Mourinho’s Thought Recalls That Tottenham Hotspur Are Not Barcelona

When football fans and pundits insist that this UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie is over, it’s as if they forget that Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid have never been beaten 5-0 this season. Just go back to what happened on November 29 last year; the scoreboard at the Camp Nou displayed a 5-0 score line against the Spanish giants.

There is a great amount of logic in mathematics – which explains that Real Madrid will be OUT of the UEFA Champions League tonight if the 5-0 result falls at White Hart Lane in favour of the hosts. It only takes a few seconds to make such calculations and predictions; true. But to those out there who might dare believing that Spurs will record a 5-0 victory at home tonight, a Real Madrid supporter may simply retort:

Real Madrid Vs Tottenham Hotspur: Massive 'KO' For Spurs

Tuesday April 5 2011,
Tags: Harry Redknapp, Cristiano Ronaldo, Jose Mourinho
Spurs suffer a massive blow to their confidence and hopes as Madrid put one foot in the Champions League semi finals with a 4-0 win over Redknapp's men in the first leg last night.
From a highly anticipated battle between the likes of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, the match between Spurs and Madrid was probably spoiled during the early stages after Peter Crouch was sent off for two bookable offences. Nevertheless, Los Blancos made sure they used their numerical advantage on the pitch to 'Real' perfection.

Aaron Lennon's withdrawal from the squad during the last hour should have given Redknapp a clue that it was always not going to be their day. Needless to say though, two blows in the opening 15 minutes threw Spurs out of the game.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale arguably tops the list of football’s new sensations. Real Madrid vs Tottenham Hotspur: Harry’s Spot On, But Spurs Aren’t

Tuesday April 5 2011,
Tags: Harry Redknapp
Live Soccer TV explained it already. Real Madrid vs Tottenham Hotspur doesn’t put Spurs as underdogs or Real Madrid as favourites – and Harry Redknapp supports this opinion.
When you have players such as Modric, Aaron Lennon and ex-Real Madrid star Rafael van der Vaart in your team, would it make sense to entertain too much fear ahead of any big game? This group of names have contributed in making Tottenham Hotspur what they are now: potential UEFA Champions League semi-final spot hunters in their first ever tournament appearance.

But there is much more job left out there just as much as the possibility of receiving a slap in the face by Spanish giants Real Madrid on Tuesday night exists. The wisest thing for Tottenham Hotspur to do, perhaps, is to concentrate on their potentialities and their needs.
