The England vs Netherlands international friendly will not take place due to London’s critical and on-going rioting, it has been announced.
According to reports from the English media, the English FA concluded on this decision after talks with the police. London is already struggling to manage the looting and burnings with police men, so it will presumably be difficult for more police men to take charge of Wednesday’s England vs Netherlands match at Wembley. A statement from the FA read:

“It is with regret that tomorrow’s [Wednesday 10 August] international fixture with Holland at Wembley has been called off.”

England’s players are visibly distracted by the terrible scenes in London. Rio Ferdinand wrote via Twitter:

“England vs Holland game is off, good call. Who wants to see a game of football when our country is in turmoil?”

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney left the following post on Twitter:

“These riots are nuts, why would people do this to their own country and city? This is embarrassing for our country. Please stop.”

Ferdinand also added:

“The scenes right now are shocking. What is this all in aid of? Innocent people's homes and livelihoods have gone up in smoke — why?”

England vs Netherlands is not the only match that has been called off. The Ghana vs Nigeria friendly in London has also been cancelled. The same things goes for Carling Cup games which were set to take place at West Ham, Charlton, Bristol City and Crystal Palace.
