The Red Devils

Manchester United seems determined to hire one  more midfielder before the end of the transfer window, but they are not ready to pay top dollar for a footballer that could end up leaving this summer. With that in mind, the Red Devils have set their sights on former Real Madrid and current Atlético midfielder Marcos Llorente as a possible reinforcement.

The Spanish midfielder joined Atlético last summer on a hefty deal between Los Blancos and Los Colchoneros, but his presence with the team has been merely testimonial all year. Here's where Manchester United comes in, as the team's hierarchy will offer Simeone's side a loan deal until the end of the season.

Manchester United's reasons to try and lure the player to Old Trafford on loan have to do with a possible change in the team's dugout, where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could end up leaving next summer. Added to that, the team wants to see if Llorente can adapt to a new country before splashing the cash to make the deal permanent.

Llorente has played fifteen games for Atlético, but only three of those as a starter. His signing could give Solskjaer some breathing space after the constant injuries picked up by Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba. In fact, according to the Manchester Evening News, the idea of bringing in Llorente comes as an alternative in case Pogba leaves the club.

The Spaniard's arrival would not bring negotiations to sign Bruno Fernandes to a halt, as both of them would team up in midfield to boost Manchester United's chances of a top-four finish. Either way, the Red Devils have to make a transfer decision, and Llorente seems like a suitable option to solve their current predicaments.
