After dropping out of the race to sign Alexis Sánchez, Pep Guardiola has apparently turned his sights on the French star.

Pep Guardiola apparently wants to extend his dominance in the Premier League, and even if they are yet to secure this season's title, the Spanish boss has already started planning for the next year.

With that in mind, and given Alexis Sánchez's snub, the former Bayern and Barcelona boss has made it a priority to sign a new striker. According to The Sun, Antoine Griezmann will be the player involved in the transfer, and in order to reduce Atlético's monetary demands, the Citizens would be willing to include Sergio Aguero in the deal, who would return to Atlético, where he played from 2006 to 2011.

"El Kun", who became the Manchester City's all-time top striker this season, has found himself falling down the Spaniard's pecking order, and it's only Gabriel Jesus' injury what's forced Guardiola to give him a starting nod in recent weeks.

Furthermore, recent reports suggested that Aguero was set to leave the club this winter, but Gabriel Jesus' injury caused those plans to fall through.

On the other hand, Griezmann had been linked with a move to Manchester United and Barcelona. In fact, Los Blaugranas had to come out and deny all interest in signing the player due to Atlético's threat to file a complaint against FIFA for trying to lure the player away. His alleged move to Manchester United last summer was extensively covered, but he chose to snub the Red Devils due to the transfer ban handed to Los Colchoneros by FIFA.

Sources indicate that Griezmann's $141M buyout clause is seen as "a bargain" by Manchester City's execs due to the player's quality, and offering a player-plus-cash deal to Los Colchoneros could pave the way for the Frenchman to play at the Etihad.
