Sunday's much anticipated Chelsea vs Manchester United match has been called off due to weather conditions. The Blues confirmed this decision on Saturday.

Chelsea vs Manchester United has been called off due to heavy snow.“Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge has been postponed following consultation with the Metropolitan Police and the local authority,” a statement on Chelsea’s official website declared.

“Should fans require a refund, they can send the tickets back to the box office with credit details and they will be cancelled.

“Supporters are advised to send tickets back by Royal Mail special delivery in order for the tickets to arrive safely.

“Any tickets that do not arrive cannot be refunded. All tickets WILL remain valid for the new date once it is confirmed.”

The new date for the Chelsea vs Manchester United match has not yet been released. In the meantime though, its postponement has left Rio Ferdinand angry as English media The Sun quoted him as saying:

“Can’t believe our game’s off tomorrow. Ruined my weekend!”

The majority of Chelsea and Manchester United fans – if not all – may well agree with the Red Devil defender. A bit of creativity, however, could help disappointed supporters get over the calling off of the game through other weekend activities.

Other postponed Sunday English Premier League matches are Blackpool vs Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers. In other words, there will be no English Premier League game on Sunday. Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers vs West Ham United and Sunderland vs Bolton were the only fixtures that could get underway on Saturday whereas Arsenal vs Stoke City and Liverpool vs Fulham had to be called off. Birmingham and Wigan also couldn't host Newcastle and Aston Villa due to the same reason: heavy snow fall.
