Serie A - Matchday 33 overview

Last weekend's Derby della Madonnina was a truly entertaining one for Serie A fans. It marked the first derby since AC Milan were sold to a new group of Chinese owners, and it ultimately ended up as a 2-2 draw. Inter, however, will have been less than pleased, as they dropped two valuable points by shipping two very late goals. The Nerazzurri are now winless in their past four games and will be desperate to get back on track as they travel to face Fiorentina.

Currently in seventh spot, Stefano Pioli's side are behind their cross-town rivals and it goes without saying that they need to start winning quickly if they want to get themselves back in the running for a Europa League berth. Meanwhile, the Viola will be raring to go after suffering a shock loss to Empoli in last weekend's other derby - the Tuscan Derby - which marked their first home defeat of the season.

As for Empoli, they may have given themselves a lifeline with that win. However, the Azzurri face a tough task as they now take on the Rossoneri at the Stadio San Siro, and Crotone will be hoping that the Rossoneri can halt the Azzurri as they attempt to make it a fourth win sans defeat against Sampdoria. The Squali managed a 1-1 draw with Torino last round to keep their hopes of avoiding the drop afloat, but time is running out for the debutants to pull off their Great Escape.

League leaders Juventus are brimming with confidence after booking their spot in the Champions League semi-finals. It wasn't easy, but the Bianconeri successfully held Barcelona at bay to win that series 3-0 on aggregate. Preventing the Blaugrana from scoring is no easy feat - especially not at the Camp Nou - but Serie A fans are well aware of Juve's strong defense, which shackled Barca's famous "MSN" attack brilliantly. La Vecchia Signora resume domestic action against Genoa at Juventus Stadium, and given their strong home record, are expected to pick up all three points.

This round will conclude with relegation candidates Pescara welcoming Roma on Monday, but before then, Roma's cross-town rivals Lazio are in action against another relegation candidate, Palermo, on Sunday.
