Finally, Javier Hernández managed to enter Mexico's all-time record books, by matching Jared Borgetti's goal scoring record of 46 goals.
The Mexican ace scored the opening goal for El Tri, breaking Keylor Navas' two-game streak without a goal in the Qualifiers. A late first-half goal by Nestor Araujo cemented Mexico's lead, giving them the top spot of CONCACAF's final round of games.
Hernández reached the record during his 89th game with El Tri, which is a carbon-copy of how Borgetti reached his milestone. "Chicharito" will have the chance to become Mexico's all-time top scorer next week, but an untimely thigh injury could prevent him from doing so.
Even Bundesliga's Twitter feed celebrated the Mexican striker's milestone.
Congratulations #Chicharito!⁰⁰
